About Ourselves
Moonfleet Sailing operates from Poole, an ideal base from which to explore the Dorset and Devon coastlines, the Solent, Channel Islands and France. The Principal is Noel Smith, a Yachtmaster Instructor with 35 years sailing experience. Our instructors are all Yachtmasters chosen for their experience, skill, instructional ability and patience. At Moonfleet the emphasis is on SAFETY to promote confidence and enjoyment whilst learning. We also believe that FUN should be an important part of the course. We pride ourselves on our professionalism, the cleanliness and comfort of our yachts, the superb quality of our food and the friendliness of our staff and are committed to offer you the very best. We are a small school and have the flexibility to tailor courses to individual needs, so if you have any special requirements we will meet them. All diets are catered for on request.

About our Yachts
Our main school yachts that you will sail on is an 8 berth Bavaria 36 (new in 2005) with wheel steering and fully equipped to the RYA/DoT Safety Code. Although the boat is very spacious, there will be a maximum of 5 clients on any course to give everyone plenty of space and individual tuition. If you are concerned about safety (we are committed to it), remember that our RYA recognition means that our yachts and equipment have an annual independent inspection to satisfy the rigid standard demanded by the Department of Transport for commercial vessels and all our Instructors are fully qualified.

About our Courses
You may not wish to do a formal RYA course, in which case just book on any trip for fun sailing or experience. You'll find you will learn a lot anyway. Many of our clients are beginners and we specialise in teaching sailing techniques in the simplest possible way on our specially equipped sail training yachts. There is no mystique to sailing and novices will be surprised how quickly they acquire the basic skills in just a few days. Practical courses are normally for 5 days, however Competent Crew and Day Skipper may be taken over three weekends which don't have to be consecutive.

Location
Poole is within 2½-3 hours drive from London and well served by coach and rail. You will join the yacht at our base at Cobbs Quay Marina, where you will have complimentary membership of the Yacht Club, free secure car parking and use of all shower and toilet facilities.

What the Price Includes
Practical courses include tuition, fuel, gas, accommodation on the yacht and all meals and drinks on board. Evening meals are not provided on joining evenings and weekends as we find at these times our clients prefer to eat ashore.  Mooring fees away from our home base are also included. You will just need to bring a sleeping bag, warm comfortable clothes and white soled soft shoes, and a set of waterproofs (these can be loaned from Moonfleet).  Full details and a location map are provided on booking.  The price of all theory courses includes all books, exam fees (except SRC) and tea/coffee.

How to book
Phone us first to check that your preferred dates are still available. We will then hold your booking for 7 days while you send your deposit. With your confirmation you will receive an invoice for the balance which is due 28 days before the sailing date. Although we are fully insured against accident and third party liability, we strongly advise clients to take out  personal and cancellation insurance. Conditions of booking
